Questions

What is BerryTraqr?

BerryTraqr was originally started as a proof of concept for the knowledge gain in November 2008. As it turns out, in January 2009, an initial swag at the proof of concept was launched to a small group of beta testers called Project Berrywary. The project remained stagnant for six full months until the developer was contacted directly.
A potential, anonymous user had a couple of ideas that would make BerryTraqr stand out. Among those, the ability to notify the Tracker of emergency calls, disabling use of cellular functionality while driving, notify the Tracker when speeds exceeded some configurable number. All of the code is built into the current release of BerryTraqr, and the site is ramping up to support the mentioned features.
Now, BerryTraqr is a BlackBerry App and a website that allows a GPS enabled BlackBerry device to be tracked from anywhere.

Who uses BerryTraqr?

Some of the people that benefit from BerryTraqr are:

What's the difference between the stand alone app and the system module version.

The system module version does not have an icon anywhere on the device and cannot be exited. Aside from that, the two applications are identical.

Why would I want to install the System Module version over the Stand Alone version?

Since the System Module version does not have an icon and cannot be exited, it is much harder to disable the tracking functionality on the phone. This is extremely beneficial to parents and employers that want to track their respective children and employees without the fear of losing their approximate location.

It is also beneficial to install the System Module version if there's a fear of the device being lost or stolen. If a device is lost or stolen, BerryTraqr will continue to report coordinates for the device. BerryTraqr will work with you to help you recover your lost or stolen phone.

Do I have to set a password?

No. Simply leave the password fields blank. Please note that the application cannot be locked if a the password is left blank.

Why would I want/need to license?

Since a standard BerryTraqr account is limited to 3 devices, companies may license the BerryTraqr software server to manage and maintain their own private data. Although BerryTraqr works hard to maintain the security of your private data, some companies feel that their own data should be housed on their own servers. As such, BerryTraqr offers businesses of all sizes to license its software for private, internal use.

If you would like to track more than 3 devices, please email accounts @ berrytraqr.com to request additional device slots.

Minimum requirements for BerryTraqr Server are: Almost any operating system, Java JRE 1.6 or better, and MySQL 5.0.
Minimum requirements for BerryTraqr Front End are: Almost any operating system, Java JRE 1.6 or better, and MySQL 5.0, Apache or IIS, and PHP5 or better, and Google API Key.

I have a problem with the BerryTraqr App. Who do I contact?

Depends on your problem:
For accounts and subscription issues, email accounts @ berrytraqr.com
For licensing questions and estimates, email licensing @ berrytraqr.com
For all other support issues, including bugs, email support @ berrytraqr.com

My phone has GPS, but the App says I don't. Why?

Some phone carriers may allow you to purchase a GPS enabled device, however, you have to subscribe to it. By default, Cingular, T-Mobile, Orange, etc. give the owner of the phone full rights to the GPS, therefore the App has full control. If you have purchased an activation code and the App is not running, please contact support @ berrytraqr.com for a refund of the activation code.

Why do you charge for an activation code?

We don't... anymore. Anyone who previously paid for an activation code has since been refunded. It was originally conceived to keep dishonest people from installing BerryTraqr without your knowledge. Activation of the software is still required, but is entirely free.

Why do the locations bounce around when I know that the device is still?

The BerryTraqr App gathers the GPS coordinates from the device itself. GPS location accuracy is based on how many GPS satellites your phone can lock onto. Although the device may be sitting still, the satellites are still moving. Anything that may be in the way of satellite reception (trees, ceiling, clouds, etc.) may also affect the accuracy of the reported GPS coordinates. Coordinates are accurate up to within 3 meters, but may be as poor as 1000 meters.

Internet Explorer 7 won't let me login to the site. How do I login?

This should no longer be an issue since the move to a "static" host. If you continue to have issues, email support @ berrytraqr.com.

How do I uninstall BerryTraqr?

To uninstall BerryTraqr from your phone, connect the device via USB to your computer and follow normal procedure to uninstall an application. Since some installations of BerryTraqr are as a system module, your device will require a full reboot.
